Patrice O’Keeffe

Patrice is a Partner in the Healthcare, Insurance and Litigation Departments with emphasis on Alternative Dispute Resolution. She is a CEDR Accredited Mediator and is a trusted advisor to professional indemnity insurers in relation to coverage disputes.

She has specialist expertise in the defence of high value complex medical and professional negligence claims and advising on healthcare regulatory matters. Patrice’s portfolio extends from catastrophic injury cases arising from medical negligence to cases relating to delayed diagnosis, injuries caused in the course of surgery and maternal injuries. Patrice is a strong advocate regularly representing clients at inquests, without Counsel.

Patrice advises healthcare providers on all aspects of healthcare law to include consent to treatment, child protection, protection of vulnerable adults, mental health issues, wardship, coroner’s court, regulatory matters to include Medical Council matters, confidentiality, employment issues and risk management.

With extensive experience in civil litigation, acting for insurance companies, indemnifiers and plaintiffs, Patrice is known for her communication skills, quick problem solving and ability to find alternative solutions. Clients commend her for being approachable, pragmatic and providing excellent and measured advice. Her commercial vision, level of sophistication and client service is described as “very strong”.

Patrice is a former member of the Law Society’s Litigation Committee and Human Rights Committee. Patrice regularly gives talks and provides instructional seminars to clients on a range of topics.
