Cliona Kenny Partner
Cliona is a partner with the firm’s Litigation, Insurance and Healthcare departments. She has experience in all areas of litigation specifically clinical litigation and medical negligence. Cliona has been involved with several landmark cases, including a recent set of leading cases on the Disability Act 2005 and the Assessment of Needs (AON) process in Ireland.
In addition, Cliona practices in the area of employment law, primarily advising in relation to legislative obligations and the defence of employment claims and equality claims.
Cliona joined CKT following a distinguished career at the State Claims Agency where she managed a mixed portfolio of medical negligence and inquest files on behalf of several public hospitals and the clinical staff covered under the clinical indemnity scheme. Prior to this, Cliona worked on a variety of Clinical Litigation and General Litigation cases including fatal injury and personal injury cases arising from medical negligence, a significant case involving the real rate of return, breach of contract, road traffic accidents, workplace accidents, professional negligence actions (plaintiff and defence) and regulatory matters.
Cliona is a CEDR Accredited Mediator. She is known by clients for her clear communication, personable approach and thoroughness of her advices.
In line with CKT’s commitment to pro bono work as a founding signatory of the Pro Bono Pledge Ireland, Cliona heads up the CKT Pro Bono Steering Committee and also sits on the Board of Gay Project Cork.
